Daniel Sheahan O’Connell, 80, from Katy, TX passed away on January 11, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Born in Augusta, GA on May 22, 1935, Dan graduated from Boy’s Catholic High in 1953. After serving in the Marines from 1955 to 1958, he graduated from University of St. Louis in 1962. Dan had a long and successful career with USF&G Insurance as an Internal Auditor and several years after retiring, he relocated from Augusta, GA to Katy, TX to be closer to family. Dan is survived by his sister-in-law Elizabeth Laird O’Connell, nieces Kathy O’Connell Clem and Anne O’Connell, his nephews Michael O’Connell and Richard O’Connell and Richard’s fiancé Carmel Orren. He is also survived by six great nieces and nephews; Jordan Clem, Thomas O’Connell, Patrick O’Connell, Danielle O’Connell, Elizabeth O’Connell and Laird O’Connell all from Katy, TX. Dan was a history buff who loved college football, great books and movies, and most of all, family. A memorial service will be held at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, Texas on January 30, 2016 at 10:30 am.
