Don was born May 3, 1937 in Houston, Texas, and went to be with our Heavenly Father September 3, 2013 at his home in Richmond, Texas surrounded by friends and family. Don was a life-long resident of the Houston area, graduating from Milby High School and the University of Houston. He had a varied professional career in real estate and banking. Don was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Richmond, Texas and loved hunting, fishing, family, and friends, but most of all, his grandchildren. Don is survived by his spouse Barbara; his children David Mintz, Donna Mintz (Sarah), David Fuqua (Beatrice), Richard Fuqua (Tanya); his grandchildren Sarah, Samantha, and Shane Mintz; Zoey, Annabelle, Stephanie, Elizabeth, and Alexander Fuqua; his brothers James (Norma), Edwin (Ann), and Henry (Cathy); his aunt, Doris Lehman; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. He is predeceased by his parents Eula and Sam Mintz, and by one brother Regan Mintz. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Faith United Methodist Church, 4600 FM 359 Rd., Richmond, Texas 77406. Burial will be private. Don requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in his memory to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Myeloma and Lymphoma Center, The Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Houston, or Faith United Methodist Church of Richmond. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michelle Fanale and the entire staff of M. D. Anderson Hospital who cared for Don so well over the past 8 years.
