Donna Siler Obituary

Donna Lynn Siler was born May 25, 1963, in Stamford, Connecticut to the union of the late Robert Lee Siler and Ada Christine Siler Polite. She would become the 2nd of eight children. Her mother states “she came into this world fighting,” as Donna was born with defective kidneys. Christine was known to always hold the young Donna close by her side. Within two years of her birth, Donna became the daughter of the late Nelson Polite Sr. Donna grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut where she was introduced to her Pentecostal faith in the early sixties. She and her family attended Turner’s Faith Temple. Donna received her education through Bridgeport Public schools and Coleytown Middle School in Westport, CT. She was also a graduate of Stratford Business School. Donna received the holy-spirit at the tender age of 20. Prior to her death, Donna spent over 30 years of her life on dialysis and was in constant pain. However, she was not one to complain and refused to let her physical ailments stop her. Through her faith and resilience she continued to grow her faith, sing in the church choir, work full-time, and mentor young people. Donna loved working for The Charles Smith Foundation Education Center, Bridgeport, CT and the Houston Baptist University (HBU) in Houston, TX, where the students gravitated to their Financial Advisor, Ms. Donna, for help with financial aid. She took great pride in assisting them, as well as her nieces and nephews, and anyone else who she thought she could be a blessing to. Donna had a sense of humor that was bigger than her ailments and brought the gift of laughter to those around her. She loved her family and friends and would often say “I have nothing but time to call my family and friends to see how they are doing.” She had a big heart and was known to pray for others before praying for herself. She loved to travel near and far. In her last few years, she would travel to see family and friends in the States of Maryland, Connecticut, North Carolina, and Texas. She adored her nieces and nephews whom she referred to as her children. She loved to try various types of food and visit restaurants that were new to her. She adored Gospel Music and was most recently fond of Anthony Brown & Group Therapy’s song “Worth” and “Everyday Jesus.” Donna is preceded in death by parents Robert Lee Siler and Nelson Polite, Sr. She is also preceded by brother, Jaime Polite. She leaves, to cherish her memory, her mother Ada Christine Polite; three sisters, Pamela Wilson and husband Russell of Texas, DeeDee Meredith Polite Simpson and husband Willie of Maryland, Hannah Polite Jones and husband Michael of Texas; three brothers, Nelson Polite, Jr., Marvin Polite, and Nathan Polite and wife Aracely all of Connecticut. She also leaves behind God sons Davon and Devin Polite, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom all love her dearly. Arrangements are being entrusted in the care of Cathedral of Praise, COGIC under Bishop J.C. White in Bridgeport, CT on May 20, 2017 at 12:00pm The Polite family wishes to thank everyone for their phone calls, text messages, sending cards and most of all your condolences and prayers.
