Jerry Crumpler Obituary

At the early morning light of Monday, October 16, 2017, a beautiful soul was relieved of her pain and suffering from cancer. Jerry fought her illness with bravery and strength. She never complained of her fear and pain; but thought only of the children who were also fighting their battles with diseases. She asked for no one to give up their time, their jobs, or their lives to tend to her; everyone in her eyes were always busier than she was and had more on their shoulders than she ever had. Everyone always came first to her and her feelings were last on her mind. Jerry was born on January 24, 1936 in Aledo, Texas. She spent most of her younger years in Houston, Texas and later years in LaGrange, Texas. After graduation from high school she moved back to Houston where she became a wife, mother, and successful and dedicated business woman. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was loved deeply by her family, her employees, friends, and strangers whom she touched with her smile and unconditional compassion. Her caring and loving heart and infectious laughter will be missed and never forgotten by those lucky enough to have been touched by this beautiful, caring, and generous woman. Jerry was the family historian; unfortunately, she left us before she finished all the stories she had to tell and much of the family history went along with her. Jerry was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marla Kay Peters. Her father, George J. Collins and mother Joan Pittman Collins. Her brothers, Colonel-Dr. George James Collins, Jr. (Jim) and David A. Collins. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-one years, Donald O. Crumpler of Houston, her son Wayne Peters and wife Kandy. Grandchildren, Garrett Peters, Christy Peters Wright, Jessica Peters, and Jeremy Peters . Great Grandchildren, Hayden Bradshaw, LuKasey Peters, Madison Wright and Mason Wright, and Gordon Peters, sister Diane Collins Murray and husband Don, and a brother, Dennis Collins and wife Stephanie, many nieces and nephews, cousins and a close uncle. She will be deeply missed by her employees and customers at Commercial Business Service, Houston, Texas. Jerry, you gave to all unconditionally – asking nothing in return. You laughed when you were grieving inside to make others happy, you had good times and you weathered many troubles without complaining or feeling sorry for yourself – others had far more problems than yourself – you would say. You climbed to the top of the mountain of life. Rest easy now - you were loved and will be deeply missed.
