John Tapper Obituary

John Tapper, 79, died Saturday March 26th at the Memorial Herman Hospice following a short illness. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Idelle Tapper; son, Steven; 2 grandchildren, his sister Miriam, nieces Sharon and Dawn, and many close friends. John was a long-time resident of Evanston, IL before moving to Houston in 1991 for a warmer climate. The son of a Baptist minister, John enjoyed studying the Bible and spending time with friends. John attended Bethel College in Minneapolis where he met his wife Idelle. They were married in 1960 in Cambridge, MN. John worked for the State of Illinois for 14 years as head of the Apprenticeship Information Bureau where he informed many Chicago-area high school students about the trade preparation programs available. Some years later John took a job with the US Department of Agriculture’s Children’s Nutritional Research program as a accounting clerk. John retired in 2006 and has enjoyed his studies, music, and spending time with his wife. This last year John completed an ebook on his lifelong battle with the neurological disease CMT titled “My Story, a Neuromuscular Disease and its Human” A memorial service is planned for Saturday April 2 at 10AM at the Westbury Baptist Church in Houston.
