Marilyn Edes Kapala (Ganny) passed away peacefully on October 18, 2015 in Houston, TX. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. Marilyn was born September 22, 1934 in Mitchell, South Dakota to George Augustus Edes and Ruth Erkert Edes. Marilyn was preceeded in death by her husband Gene Kapala. She is survived by her children Laurie Leos (George), John Bangle, Bonnie White and Brad Bangle (Brigid); grandchildren Brianna White, George Leos, Lindsay Konlande (Alex), Stephanie Crowley (Vince), David Leos, Mollie Bangle, Sam Bangle; great-grandchildren Sean Sweitzer, David Sweitzer, Sophia Figura, Nick Figura, Jacqueline Thompson, Vivian Chadsey; her sister Dorothea Hoyt, her brothers William Edes and Walter Larsen, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ganny was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a loyal friend and faithful servant of God. We will miss her in our lives, while we keep her in our hearts. Marilyn’s life will be celebrated in a small memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to her church home, St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, in remembrance of Marilyn Kapala. 2003 W. 43rd Street, Houston TX 77018, www.stsumc.org.
