Sophia Stanley Humble, Texas Obituary

Sophia Stanley

Our sweet Sophie left us on August 17, 2018 to join the angels in heaven. She was a joy to all who knew her and was known most for her ability to make others happy. Sophie passionately loved her family and friends of which there were many. Sophie started her journey in life in Beaumont, Texas on July 24, 1987. Her parents, Lawrence and Christie Piercy had a home in Sour Lake, Texas where Sophie played hard each day with her older sister Emilie and little brother Stewart- that’s right- a middle child! When Sophie was 8 years old the Piercy family moved to Kingwood, Texas where she finished her childhood. She enjoyed acting, gymnastics, juggling, fishing, turtle catching & playing softball. Sophie was very active in the Kingwood High School FFA; raising goats and a couple of steers with bad attitudes. Many good memories and many lifelong friends would come from her years in Kingwood. Sophie attended Texas A&M University for her undergrad and loved every day that she spent there. Whoop! Participating and serving in leadership positions for Fish Camp, Maggies & MSC Fish she experienced A&M to the fullest. So many wonderful memories and friends filled her heart during her time in College Station. Sophie loved attending church and had a passion for helping and serving others. She worked at Sky ranch as a camp “nurse” for a couple of summers and also went on a medical mission trip to Peru. In 2010 Sophie moved to Dallas to begin her Physician Assistant school experience. Unfortunately, this would be interrupted with her brain cancer diagnosis. Her new Dallas friends rallied to help her through this tough battle, but unfortunately her cancer would stop her dream of being a PA leading her life in another direction. While learning to live with brain cancer she set out to help and inspire others with the same fight. She raised money participating in Relay for Life, ministered to countless people in the hallways and waiting rooms of MD Anderson and also worked in camps for children with brain cancer. She never gave up hope for a cure and her positive attitude was contagious. After moving back to the Kingwood area Sophie met a man sent from heaven just for her. Christopher Stanley. Chris and Sophie where a perfect match for each other. They happily married June 12, 2016. They loved life together and although Sophie’s cancer tried hard to make their time together difficult, together they were strong. They shared many happy moments together, honeymooning in Aruba, traveling to the Grand Cayman Islands with family, fishing, and just enjoying each other while watching movies at home surrounded by their fur babies Riley, Rio and Scrappy. While together Sophie and Chris found a church home at Second Baptist Church where they became members of the church and attended The Knot bible study together. Their marriage was a true example of selfless love, one that finds a way to lift each other up during difficult times and find joy and happiness in each day. A true testament of what marriage should be. During 2017, Sophie found a new calling- teaching. She taught for Humble ISD at the CATE center. She loved being a teacher, loved her students and loved the other teachers that she shared her days with. This new career gave her a sense of purpose and the joy that she had always found in helping others. On August 17, 2018, Sophie surrounded by her sweet husband Chris and family took flight to heaven. Sophia Fae (Piercy) Stanley is survived by her husband Christopher Forrest Stanley, parents Lawrence and Christie (Caskey) Piercy, brother Stewart Benjamin Piercy, sister Emilie Valyn Eskridge (Piercy) and husband Michael Eskridge, niece and nephew Chloe and Doug Eskridge, Grandmother Mary Helen Caskey (Granna) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Sophie is predeceased by her grandparents, Dr. Charles J. Caskey (Chuckbaby), Louis Fletcher Piercy (Paka) and Pat Piercy (Mawmaw). Sophie lived a short life, but accomplished much. She will continue to live in our hearts until we meet again. Love you sweet Sophie Girl!
