Helen Jane Taulbee

Helen Jane Taulbee was born September 3, 1923 in the Heights - Houston, Texas and laid to rest March 6, 2021 at the age of 97 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. George C. Taulbee, Sr. and her son, George C. Taulbee, Jr. She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Young of Lakehills, Texas and Janet Moeller of Cuero, Texas; eight grand-children and six great-grandchildren. Taulbee graduated in Houston from Jefferson Davis High School and enrolled in the University of Houston where she earned a doctorate in education. After serving as a teacher in the Houston ISD, she was promoted to the position of elementary school principal. In 1973, the family moved to Victoria, Texas when her husband was appointed assistant chancellor at the University of Houston-Victoria. Dr. Taulbee continued her career at Region III Education Service Center as an education consultant. She was also the curriculum director for Calhoun County ISD, served on numerous committees to write curricula for gifted/talented programs for the Texas Education Agency, and was a part-time Adjunct Professor at the U Of H -Victoria. Dr. Taulbee was a life-long member of the Methodist Church; member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Helen was a remarkable and generous woman who loved to read and write and travel. She was a loving Mother, Grand-Mother, Aunt, cousin and friend and will be truly missed.
