Tom Mays

Tom Butler Mays left the fairway August 17, 2019 after a long illness surrounded by his family. Tom was born in Temple, Texas on June 11, 1948, he was the oldest of 3 boys. He graduated from high school in Sweeney, Texas in 1966. Soon after high school he joined the army and served proudly in Vietnam with E company 20th infantry, Long Range Patrol. Soon after his service he traveled on to Washington State and tried to start a life there working different jobs that just did not keep him satisfied. Shortly after his adventure in Washington State he traveled back to his hometown in Texas and joined the family company Indeco Sales. Everyone he worked with or met while running errands or grabbing some lunch remember him fondly. Tom enjoyed playing golf, traveling and hanging out by the pool with his family. Tom was preceded in death by his father Tom Bigham Mays and his mother Katherine. He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Lori Sage, daughter Christy Holcombe and her husband Brian, grandchildren Bryce Holcombe and Sydney Holcombe, his brother John Mays and his wife Barbara, niece Sara Mays her husband Jim Allen, niece Jacklyn Pointer Mays and her husband Aaron Pointer and their daughter Ella Rose Mays Pointer, his brother Dennis Mays and wife Lisa, nephew Tyler and niece Katie, sister in law Marilyn Roberts and her husband Jamie, family friend Natalie Crain. Celebration of life service will be held on August 31st at Walden on Lake Houston Country Club at 10am 18100 Walden Forest Dr. Humble, Tx 77346.
