Alfred Kappus

HURST -- Alfred "Al" John Kappus, 63, owner of Neighborhood Cafe, passed away fittingly Friday July 4, 2014. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, in the chapel of Forest Ridge Funeral Home, Hurst. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Al served in Vietnam and truly loved his country. He did not lose his battle to cancer because he won. Cancer never robbed him of his love, nor did it dissolve his faith, never took his dignity, never stole his identity, never destroyed his hope, never stopped him from helping others and it will never take away the memories. As he is welcomed into the arms of Jesus we can look cancer straight in the face, and say you didn't win, he did! Al was preceded in death by his son, Mike. Survivors: Wife, Barbara; sons, Scott and Stan and his wife, Melle; grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Ramey and Bella; and great-grandson, Carter.
