Archibald Donald Davies, 91, a priest, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at a nursing center in Hurst. Service: Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. Friday at The Episcopal Church of Good Shepherd in Acton. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Camp Crucis, 2875 Camp Crucis Court, Granbury, Texas 76048; or The Episcopal Church of Good Shepherd, 3600 Fall Creek Highway, Granbury, Texas 76049. Archibald was born to Velma and Archibald Davies in Pittsburgh, Pa., on April 15, 1920. He married his high school sweetheart, Mabel, in 1939. He was ordained a priest in 1951 and became the bishop of the Diocese of Dallas in 1970. In 1983, he became the first bishop of Fort Worth. He subsequently served as the bishop of the Convocations of American Churches in Europe from 1986-89. He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, and one son, Allan David Davies. Survivors: Children, Timothy Davies and wife, Anita, Mark Davies, Dona Davies and Mary Townsend and husband, Rich; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
