HALTOM CITY -- C.O. Norris tied up for rest and entered into the Father's keeping Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, surrounded by his family. Funeral: Noon Thursday, Jan. 30, at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Airport Freeway in Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. C.O. was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Brazos, one of seven children. At age 17, he answered the call to serve his country and fought in World War II, enduring three major battles from 1943 to 1946. Upon returning to the States, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 38 years. He also worked 20 years with the Golden Gloves, where he wrapped the hands of the boxers. Although being a native Texas, he spent a number of years in Duncan, Okla., and belonged to the Oklahoma VFW Post 1192. He made many friends in Oklahoma. C.O. was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Norris; parents, J.M. and Eula Norris; brothers, J.M. Norris Jr., Texas Norris, Burt Norris and two infant siblings. Survivors: Daughters, Cathy Allen and Sandy Curl; grandsons, Eric Curl and Bryan Allen; brother, Dan Norris; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
