Chalmer Wiegman Obituary

Reverend Chalmer Roger Wiegman went to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the age of 74, after suffering a heart attack at home. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Airport Freeway, Hurst, TX. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 25, 2017, at 10:30 am, at Metroplex Chapel, 601 Airport Freeway, Euless, TX. Chalmer was born on August 2, 1942, in Claude, Texas, the second son, and fourth child of L. D. and Marie Standridge Wiegman. He spent his childhood years in Claude, enjoying school and working on the family farm. The family moved to Amarillo, Texas where Chalmer graduated from Amarillo High School in 1960. He began his studies at Bethany Nazarene College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1964 and a Master of Arts in 1968. Chalmer entered Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and earned a Masters of Divinity in 1971. He was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene in 1973. Though Chalmer’s primary career as a pastor fulfilled his life calling, he also had the opportunity to work at the Federal Reserve Bank in the states of Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. He was married to Rosetta Brown Wiegman for over 20 years before Rosetta lost her battle with cancer in 1990, and they had one child, Donya Simoneaux, born on March 30, 1965. On May 25, 1991 Chalmer married Judi Truit Siebert, and blended a family that now included Judi’s seven children. Chalmer and Judi served in various church capacities together and actually “retired” several times, before being called to yet another church. They finally landed in Waco, Texas in October, 2015, and were in the process of turning their 1960s house into the home of their dreams. Chalmer said on more than one occasion, “This is our last stop before Heaven,” and little did he know that he would be right! Chalmer was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Marie Wiegman; and first wife Rosetta Wiegman. Chalmer is survived by his beloved wife, Judi Wiegman; his 7 siblings: Silver, Glenn, Beth, Jan, Delores, Birdette, and Ralph, and their families; his daughter, Donya Simoneaux and her husband, Charles; their four daughters, Alyse Gajda and her family; Ashlie Gibson; Stephanie Simoneaux McCann and her family; and Jennifer Simoneaux Shrader; Judi’s 7 children: Jeff, Andrea, Amber, Jenna, AJ, Janda and Autumn and their families; and 6 great-grandchildren and counting. What a legacy he has left!
