Chuck grew up on a farm in rural Iowa and upon completion of high school he enlisted in the army spending most of his time in Korea. Upon returning to the states he married his loving wife, Carol, of 54 years. The raised 2 children, Paul and Cindy in Perry, Iowa, where he went to work for a local bank; a profession that he enjoyed for 40 years. Growing up on a farm, he learned the value of working hard and enjoying nature. Paul and Cindy were able to enjoy many good times spent at the farm with the farm animals as well as enjoyment with a creek for fishing and swimming. Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses in the mountains, playing card games, and dancing. He was a prolific joke teller with a smile for everyone. He was also known as a master chef on the grill, being able to fix you steak medium rare just by watching. He also did his favorite dishes of apple sausage dressing, scalloped corn and of course the famous "Chuck's Yuk" recipe, which has now been published in 3 cook books. With their love of travel there were also many family vacations, with memories to laugh about and cherish forever. While at Riverside Memory Care, he could still enjoy singing, dancing, and wearing funny hats at the beginning. He developed a deep love of those who tended to his needs and the family is so grateful for his loving care. I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
