David Mills HURST, Texas Obituary

David Mills

David (Dave) John Mills, 69, of Arlington, Texas, was called Home and passed away on the morning of March 19, 2016. Dave was born in Denver, CO, but spent his childhood in Louisville, KY. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 and was a dog handler for the K9 Corp during the Vietnam War. He met the love of his life, Debbie, while working security at a local hospital in Cincinnati. In 1979, he moved the family to Arlington, Texas, where he tirelessly worked to open his own pest control company – Best Pest Control, Inc. Dave loved his customers, and a great majority of them became lifelong friends. Dave sold his company and retired in 2013. He took pride in serving for The Knights of Columbus Council #6269, and served on the 4 th degree team. Dave’s passion for patriotism lead him to membership at The American Legion Chris Kyle Chapter in Midlothian, TX. He loved his church and church family at Saint Maria Goretti, and was a member of the parish. Dave wore many hats: He was a devoted husband for 39 years. He was the most loving father, and was the best Papa and GrandDave in the world who adored his grandchildren. He was the beloved Bugman for over 30 years. No matter where he went, he made an impact, because he had a special gift. Dave truly knew how to love anyone; he was always giving and always helping. He cared enough to ask everyone how they were doing; more than that – he cared enough to listen to the answer. Everyone who knew Dave felt loved by Dave...because they were. His warmth, his smile, his bear hugs, his infectious laugh...they will all be sorely missed. He would want us to know, though, that he is happy, pain free, and patiently awaiting our arrival. Funeral Services for Dave will be at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM. There will be a rosary service preceding his funeral at 9:30 AM, and he will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas at 12:30 PM. Following the burial, the family asks that you please join them at the Knights of Columbus in Arlington at 2625 S. Cooper Street. Lunch will be served and it will be a joyful time to reflect, share stories, and honor Dave. Dave is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah (Debbie) Mills, two daughters ‐ Lauren Dillon and Katie Blalock, and their husbands James Dillon and Zack Blalock. He is also survived by his son David Mills and David’s long‐time girlfriend, Lora Glimp. He was blessed with seven adored grandchildren: Garrett, Logan, and Adam Dillon, Aaron Strange, Colton and Riley Mills, and Ella Blalock. He was also expecting the arrival of another Dillon grandson this September. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: Knights of Columbus Council #6269 2625 S.
