Donna Blume Obituary

Donna Jeanne Blume went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2016, while holding her daughter Karen’s hand. Donna was born on November 28, 1934, in Marathon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dr. Robert and Ruth Ludeman. She attended Idaho Springs High School and graduated in 1952. Kathy and Karen have many fond childhood memories of their Mom; from family suppertime around the table to camping trips they would take with their mom, Grama and Grandpa. Donna would often dress the girls in matching outfits, much to their dislike. But Easter was always extra special because she would deck them out in beautiful dresses, bonnets and even white gloves. Drinking coffee in the wee hours of the morning, gossiping about the family, and just being able to hear her voice will be some of the thousands of memories cherished and missed the most. Donna’s grandchildren were everything to her… that was until something even better came along…. Great-grandchildren! She would have spent every minute with them if the opportunity arose. Not many people are lucky enough to have such a close relationship to their grama or great-grama, but we were the lucky ones. Donna worked for McKesson over 20 years, where she made many life-long friends including Jan Clayton, who would not only become her partner in crime but her best friend. After retiring from McKesson, Donna took a job for The Warner family. Robert, Lynda, Ana and Erica became her second family and she loved them just the same. Donna was an independent, strong-willed woman- but when it came to two little 4-legged goofballs Gus and Graysie, she melted. These puppies had her wrapped around their little paws and she sure loved them. She enjoyed watching Criminal Minds, ID Discovery, Family Feud (she loved her Steve Harvey) and even had a thing for Sci-Fi movies as silly as they were. Give her her chair, her shows, and “the puppies” and she was a happy lady! Donna is survived by her two daughters Kathy, husband Dan, and Karen. Sister Dianne Mayfield. Grandchildren Jayme, Dawna, Jarred and Devin. Great-grandchildren Madison, Rylee, Mallory, Raegan, Logan, Kobie, Ryder, Brent, Reeyse, Jessi, Ethan, Raylan, Derek, and Jacob. Several nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceded in death by her father Robert, mother Ruth, sister Virginia, and great-grandson Ryan. A come and go celebration will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 2pm- 4pm at her home.
