George Watson

ROANOKE -- George Watson passed away Friday, May 9, 2014. He will be remembered by family and friends for his big, loving heart, love of the outdoors, talk radio, everything mechanical and his dry sense of humor. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Forest Ridge Funeral Home, Hurst. Interment: 1 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association or your favorite charity. George was born May 14, 1946, to Harold Watson and Elizabeth Frances Duckworth in Morganfield, Ky. He graduated from Webster County High School in 1964 and joined the Air Force in 1966 serving with the 308th MIMS as a missile technician. George retired as regional project manager from Dematic Inc. having worked previously for General Dynamics and Motorola. He was preceded in death by his father and nephew, J.T. Routh. Survivors: He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 45 years; mother, Elizabeth; his sons, Robert (Joy), David (Debbie), Shad (Angela), and Scott; brother, Bill (Chris); sister, Kay (Mac); niece, Terry (Bobby) White; grandchildren, Michael, Marriah, Ashley, Darby, Aryn; great-granddaughter, Nola; and puppy, Precious.
