BEDFORD -- Grant Todd Gambill passed away at a local hospital Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the age of 34 years. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday in the Grand Ballroom at the Hurst Conference Center. Memorials: Donations be made at www.gofundme.com/32wngw in memory of Grant to a fund for his daughters. Grant Gambill was born March 9, 1979, in Bedford. He grew up in Bedford as part of a remarkable family, his parents, Greg and Ann Gambill, a brother, Travis, and a sister, Allison. Grant attended L.D. Bell High School. He had a superhuman ability to play the drums and was a leading member of L.D. Bell's drumline. He was a decorated member of the Bedford swim team and a constant presence in the L.D. Bell drama department. He collected an amazing amount of trophies, ribbons, commendations and awards in his youth. No matter what he was doing, he gave every effort to be the very best, and usually succeeded. After graduating from high school, Grant attended Southwest Texas State University where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of fine arts degree. He was also a member of the Alpha Psi Omega theater fraternity. Grant devoured the high school and college experiences and made a multitude of lifelong friends who love and will miss him dearly. From his teenage years on, Grant worked side by side with his father, brother and sister in various positions broadcasting live sporting events for television. He started off as a cable puller and rose to accept a more vital and rewarding role, most recently as a video engineer. He understood what a gift he was given in his job and took on the challenges of massive, globally broadcast productions in effortless stride. He worked on productions for the Mavericks, Rangers, Stars and Cowboys, as well as many special events. He is remembered by his co-workers as irreverent, hilarious and extremely capable. He was the proud father of two beautiful girls, Madison and Morgan, who were the center of his world. He was a devoted dad who held his love for his daughters above all else. They are intelligent and thoughtful children, thanks in no small part to Grant's efforts as a father. Throughout his life, Grant was a force of light and laughter. He loved movies and music with an intense passion and could often be heard quoting his favorite films and singing his favorite songs. He was fearless with his love and held everyone he shared time with in his heart. Grant was vivacious and full of life. He had an array of unique experiences, including winning "America's Freakiest Hairdo" on the Jenny Jones show. He was a master at the craft of telling stories and left a wake of laughter everywhere he went. His own laugh was infectious, a laugh that was always born in his belly and leapt forth to wrap itself around whoever could hear it. It was unmistakeable and powerful. Survivors: His two children; his mother; his brother; his sister; his loving fiancee, Meg Geer; and an overwhelming collection of family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by all.
