HURST -- Helen Aileen Burkheimer, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, August 13, 2016, a journey for which she had prepared her entire life. Graveside service 10am Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. The family will receive family and friends 6-8pm Tuesday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Airport Frwy, Hurst. Helen was born in San Angelo, Texas December 29th 1925. She met her husband, Dale in 1947. She traveled the world as an Air Force wife, working as a telephone switchboard operator and raising four children. She was very active with the Baptist church in each and every community they lived, most recently a member of North Pointe Baptist Church in Hurst. Helen was also a volunteer at the AIDS Outreach Center in Fort Worth for over 23 years. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Laura Bullock, husband of 60 years Dale Burkheimer, daughter Victoria Bensley, son Robert Burkheimer, and 7 brothers and sisters. Helen leaves behind a son Rex Burkheimer and wife Celia; daughter Kathi Burkheimer; grandchildren Amy Long and husband Michael; Brent Burkheimer and wife Anna; Susan Burkheimer and Shawn Benton; great-grandchildren Victoria Long and Chase Long; extended family and a host of lifelong friends. Heaven has a new angel. We miss her already.
