NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Jim D. Wallace passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, in North Richland Hills. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Davis Memorial United Methodist Church in North Richland Hills. Inurnment: 11:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials: The family requests that memorial donations be made to Davis Memorial United Methodist Church, 5301 Davis Blvd., North Richland Hills, Texas 76180. Jim was the son of Raymond and Ethel Wallace and was raised in Tulia. He was a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in nuclear physics. While in college he was on a work/study program; the first year he worked at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico for six months and the second year he spent six months in Antarctica doing weather research. Jim moved to the Fort Worth area in 1968 with his three children and his first wife, Pat. They divorced in 1980. She preceded him in death Nov. 23, 2010. Jim was a veteran and served as an officer at the Naval Academy. Jim's career of choice was electronic sales and he was the owner and CEO of a manufacturer's rep firm until his retirement. Jim had a true love for penguins and Antarctica and was know to all of his friends and family as "Dr. Penguin." Jim remarried and spent 17 wonderful years with Gloria Braddon. They enjoyed traveling around the world and through much of the U.S. He was involved in many hobbies, including Ham radio operator, storm watcher, photographer, as well as Meals on Wheels and other community service organizations. Jim will be remembered as a loving husband and father, for his sense of humor and will be missed by all. Survivors: Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Wallace; his children, Jimmy Don Wallace II and his wife, Janet, of Manassas, Va., Michele Wallace Bell and her husband, James, of North Richland Hills and Leslie McPherson of Cloudcroft, N.M. He was blessed with four beautiful granddaughters, Morgan McPherson, Caitlin, Libby and Bailey Bell; and great-granddaughter, Ryle Padoven. Gloria has three children, William B. Braddon Jr., Pat Braddon and Kristin Lopez; as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
