Larry Bob Rinehart Obituary

Larry Bob Rinehart died on January 6th, 2017 at 73 years of age, in Fort Worth, Texas. Surrounded by his family, he began his final and greatest “big adventure” on the streets of gold in Heaven. Born June 6th, 1943 in Bethany, Missouri to Lawrence and Mildred Rinehart, he spent most of his early years on the family farm with his younger brother, Ron Rinehart. Larry joined the United States Air Force on August 3rd, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. During his 12 years of service, a number of which were spent as part of the Strategic Air Command Elite Guard, Larry received several awards that included the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Larry was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant on May 21st, 1973 from Omaha, Nebraska. He was a proud veteran, having served in Germany, the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Enjoying the freedom he found being his own boss, Larry started and ran numerous businesses after the Air Force. Even as a successful salesman, what he really wanted was to be a showman, so he set out to find his next big adventure. That journey led him to a livestock auction in Gallatin, Missouri, where he purchased a Shetland pony named Nugget. He started taking pictures of children, dressed up like cowboys, sitting on Nugget and called the business Little Britches Pony Club. Building from that first year at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in 1987, Larry grew Little Britches into various animal exhibits traveling across state fair midways across the nation. This year marks the 31st anniversary at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and a legacy Larry was proud to give his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mildred, infant daughter, Sonya and granddaughter, Jordan. Survived by Peggy Rinehart, his wife of 31 years and brother, Ron Rinehart. His children, Lisa & Ed Chassaing, LeNay & Michael Call, Laura & Mitch Ford, Tami Young, Clint Young, Cassi & James McAllister, Tyler & Kerri Rinehart, Mandi & Derek Whisenand. His grandchildren, Kristin Kemp, Sarah Rinehart, Hannah Call, Cortne Anderson, Briona Young, Cody Anderson, Blake Young, Luke Whisenand, Grace Whisenand. The visitation will be held at Forrest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Airport Freeway, Hurst, Texas on Saturday, January 7th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at The Glory Church, 824 W Pipeline Rd, Hurst, Texas on Sunday, January 6th, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Pastor Bill Earley will officiate the celebration of Larry’s life and legacy. Burial will be held at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at 1:15 pm, in honor his military service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice Care, 1845 Precinct Line Road Suite 107, Hurst, Texas or The Salvation Army Fort Worth Shelter, 1855 East Lancaster, Fort Worth, Texas.
