Louis 'Pete' Maze Obituary

Louis ‘Pete’ Alfred Maze Jr. was born July 22, 1933 to Louis Alfred and Maria Del Carmen Maze in the Panama Canal Zone. Pete was introduced to his wife Ann by Edna Cox. They were married July 4, 1952 in Weatherford. The Justice of the Peace was closed and they couldn’t find anyone on the square to marry them. A couple walked by and Pete asked if they knew anyone or anyplace where they could get married. The woman replied that her husband was a preacher, so they were married in their hotel room. A daughter was born 9 months and 24 days later and a son in 1954. Pete’s boy and Ann’s girl was the saying. Gail’s memories: Dad took Randy and I almost daily to Lake Arlington to swim. He would pull the car into the lake to wash it while we swam. Every Saturday we went to G&G Mazes and had hamburgers and Dad would hang out in the garage with Grandpa. Dad talked to my boyfriend once after he had run away from home urging him to go back home because I was so upset. He taught Justin to shoot the finger! Just before we walked down the aisle at my wedding, Dad did his ha-ka-saka and said ‘let’s go’. Dad always had a hard time with names, so at my wedding, he referred to my friend as ‘blue dress.’ Dad was a complex individual. Dad and Mom loved to dance. When they were separated and both ended up at the senior center, Mom got up and asked him to dance. When the dance was over, he told Mom ‘we still got it don’t we?’ Dad’s best friend and sidekick was Miller and he knew how to vacuum out a truck, with a blower. Dad retired from Menasco Manufacturing where he worked with aircraft. Pete was preceded in death by his sister Mary Palmer. Pete is survived by his wife of 60 years Ann; son, Randy (Debbie) Maze; daughter, Gail Stephens; brother, Charlie (Sally) Maze; sisters, Evelyn Schulla and Alice (Felix) Jordan; grandchildren, James, Amy, and Candace; and 7 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
