Narene Simpson Obituary

HURST -- Narene Emma Simpson peacefully returned to God on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 521 W. Pipeline Road, Hurst. The Rev. Donna McKee will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Ridge Funeral Home, Hurst. Narene was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Pollard, Ark. She lived a long and rewarding life full of love, grace and happiness effortlessly giving joy to those around her. Being a farmer's daughter and wife and later a nurse at Piggott Community Hospital, she was no stranger to hard work. Her greatest pleasure in life was serving others. After the death of her husband, J.B., Narene moved from Piggott, Ark., her home of 75 years, to Rogers, Ark., near her daughter, Carolyn Wilson. Upon Carolyn's death in 2008, she moved to Hurst to be close to her daughter, Vicky Otterman. Each move left behind friends and loved ones, but Narene bloomed where she was planted and easily formed meaningful relationships. A devoted Christian, Narene was a woman of deep faith. Christian love was evident in her everyday life; generosity, kindness, gentleness and compassion were among her many attributes. When death was evident, she was a testimony of faith and hope in Jesus Christ and an inspiration to others. Narene's parents, Lessie and Zell Forrest; husband, J.B. Simpson; one daughter, Carolyn Wilson; brother, Francis Forrest; and sister, Billie June Hon, preceded her in death. Survivors: Devoted daughter, Vicky Otterman and husband, Dale, of Hurst. She also leaves her grandchildren, Brice Pritchett and wife, Misty, of Burleson, Heath Wilson of Rogers, Ark., and Tonoa Whisel and husband, David, of Springdale, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Braden and Jacob Pritchett and their mother, Michelle Haddox Pritchett, of Waco, Blake Becker of Burleson and Madison and David Whisel of Rogers, Ark.; nephew, Kelly Stephens and wife, Sharon, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and his daughters, Brandi and Amber. Also mourning her passing are friends and extended family.
