NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Shirley Pohl Roberson passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 after several years of declining health. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 27th, at Forest Ridge Funeral Home. Visitation: family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial in Michigan will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Presbyterian Night Shelter, PO Box 2645, Fort Worth, TX 76113 or the charity of one's choice. Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 5, 1926. Shirley's life was focused on her love of family and faith. Married to Bill for over 64 years they raised two children, first in Detroit, MI and then in North Richland Hills, TX. The Roberson house was always the place to find homemade cookies, pies, and cakes. Shirley enjoyed traveling and much of it was done camping throughout the USA with her family. She loved her garden in Texas, the irises and blue bonnets filled her backyard. Her goal was to always have something blooming. Shirley was an active supporter of various charities. Her last project, sewing preemie baby christening gowns for local hospitals was near and dear to her heart. She was an active member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Detroit and became a member of St. Phillips Presbyterian church in Hurst after moving to Texas in the 1970s. One of Shirley's greatest joys was being with her grandchildren. For 28 years straight she never missed celebrating their birthday with them. Shirley was preceded by her parents, Agnes and William Pohl; sister, Mildred Mikich; brother, William Pohl; and a son, David Roberson. Survivors: husband, Bill; son, Thomas Roberson and wife Connie; daughter, Nancy Roberson Leslie and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Kelly and Christopher.
