ROANOKE -- Shirley Watson passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2014. She will be remembered for her compassion, honesty, humorous and quick wit, traveling and love of music. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Ridge Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials: in lieu of flowers, please make donations to her favorite charity, www.wildspiritwolfsanctuary.org, or a charity of your choice. Shirley was born Dec. 1, 1948, to Edwin Fitzgerald and Emogene Sorson in Dyess Ark. She graduated from Barrington High (Ill.) in 1966 and went to work for the federal government. She met her husband George in 1968. They married in the summer of love. She was known by many as the church lady, the tax lady but most lovingly as "Mom." She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years; her father; and sister, Angie. Survivors: Mother; brother, Gerald Fitzgerald (Betty); sons, David(Debbie), Shad (Angela) and Scott; grandchildren, Darby, Aryn and Ashley; great-granddaughter, Nola; and puppy, Precious.
