HURST -- Stephen "Steve" Edward Wallace, 48, died at an Arlington hospital Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011. Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Texas Deer Association, 403 E. Ramsey, Suite 204, San Antonio, Texas 78216; or Environment Texas, 815 Brazos, Suite 600, Austin, Texas 78701. Steve was born Feb. 12, 1963, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Charles and Linda Wallace. At 6, he and his family moved to Dallas. He was a graduate of W.T. White, Class of 1981. At the age of 19, Steve began his career in the elevator industry as an apprentice helper. At the time of his death, he was a mechanic in charge. He was a loyal member of IUEC Local 21 for 29 years. He loved the brotherhood of his fellow union members. A lifelong sportsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Steve was involved in many hobbies, including home improvement projects. He could fix anything, for which his family, friends and neighbors were very grateful. He will be remembered as a force of nature with a unique sense of humor and generous heart. Our lives will not be the same without him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda, and sister, Diane Wallace Madera. Survivors: Wife, Tracey; their beloved son, Austin; father, Charles; brother, Doug, his wife, Kelley, and their son, Brad, of Surprise, Ariz.; nephews, Jason Madera of Lewisville and Corey Madera of Grapevine; many other beloved family members; and his faithful dog, Chichi.
