William Terry "Tad" Holburn Jr., 46, was born in Wichita, KS to Terry and Martha (Raymond) Holburn on 4 July 1966 and departed this life on 22 October 2012 of natural causes. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the chapel of Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Wounded Warriors. Tad served as a Sergeant with the Headquarters Detachment, 4th Battalion 1st Field Artillery, 5th Infantry Division and later as a captain with the 411th Base Support Battalion, Heidelberg, Germany. Tad was currently working as a process improvement specialist in the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Munitions Command Continuous Improvement Office. Tad received the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the Commander's Award for Civilian Service. He was an Army certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and was nearing completion of his Army Master Black Belt certification. His military awards, include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. His hobbies included NASCAR and motorcycling. His passion for motorcycles led him to join the Patriot Guard Riders and conduct classes for the Illinois Motorcyel Rider Safety Training Course. Tad graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1984 and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Daytona Beach in 1995. Survivors: Mother, Martha Holburn, Bedrod, TX; father and stepmother, Terry and Karen Holburn, Dallas, TX; siblings, Jennifer and husband, Lt. Cmdr. David Smith, San Fransisco, CA; Michael Holburn, Dallas, TX: Kathryn Holburn, Lubbock, TX; and Kristin Holburn, Dallas, TX; and nephew, Mason Holburn.
