Billy Verm, 70, of Thornton passed away at his home November 24, 2009. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Friday, November 27, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton. Rev. Brandan Verm will officiate with interment to follow in the Thornton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-8 PM, Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton. Alvin William "Billy" Verm, Sr. was born November 11, 1939 in Sealy, Texas to Johnnie William and Kathrine Mabel (Ross) Verm. Billy married Janet Read on July 22, 1961 in Grangerland, Texas. He had been self-employed for 48 years as a diesel fuel injection mechanic. Billy served his country in the U. S. Navy for four years, followed by eight years in the Coast Guard and Coast Guard reserves. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marlin. He was preceded in death by his his parents; two brothers, Albert L. Verm, Sr. and Robert Edward Verm; and a grandson, Trendell Wyatt Verm. Billy is survived by his wife, Janet (Read) Verm of Thornton; daughter, Julie Verm Lisenby and husband, Danny of Lake Charles, LA.; sons, Alvin William Verm, Jr. and wife, Nichole of Groesbeck and Troy Wendell Verm and wife, Alesha of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Brandan, Hunter, Ashlynn, Addison, and Allie Verm, Josiah and Arielle Johnson, Danny, Cristopher, Brad, Nicole and William Lisenby; and sisters, Patricia Adams of Longview and Emily Shearer of Forney. Pallbearers will be Joseph Verm, Danny Lisenby, Josiah Johnson, Eric Ginsel, Brad Lisenby, William Adrio, William Lisenby and Albert L.
