Barbara Lloyd

Barbara "Mum" Lloyd, 70, of Mexia, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, November 21, 2010. She was born October 4, 1940 in Auburn, New York to L. C. and Nancy Gladys Guest. Barbara lived most of her life in Mexia and worked at the Mexia State School for twenty-five years. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was born Barbara Ann Guest but soon became "Bobbie" to her family. As time went on, she added a new name, "Mama", she was called this lovely by her three children; then one day, she added yet another name, "Mum", although this name was started as a name from her grandkids, she soon began to be called "Mum" by many. So whether addressed by Barbara, Bobbie, Mama or Mum, this "Special Lady" will be loved, remembered and missed always. Barbara is survived by her three children, Lisa Briggs and husband, Nathan of Mexia, TX, Clayton Lloyd of Fairfield, TX, and Kristi Higgins and husband, Aaron of Fort Worth, TX; four siblings, Billie York of Mexia, TX, Norma Bell and husband, Bill of Axtell, TX, Betty "Betsy" Underwood and husband, Jimmy of Axtell, TX and Major Thomas L. Guest USAF (Ret.) of Axtell, TX; six grandchildren, Christopher Lloyd, Lacey Briggs, Christina Lloyd, Connor Higgins, Jaycee Higgins and Cade Higgins; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin Lloyd in 1985; her parents, L. C. Guest in 1991 and Nancy Guest in 1992; brother-in-law, C. D. "Buzz" York; and nephew, James Stacey Underwood. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs in Mexia, TX. Services will be on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Mexia with Pastor Jeff Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike York, Billy Ray Bell, Coy Bell, David Hamilton, Roger Scales and Daniel Patterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Underwood, Preston Hamilton and Cory Hamilton.
