Bertie Archibald Obituary

Bertie Faye (Ingram) Archibald was born July 13, 1926, to John and Louise Ingram. She went to her heavenly home Monday, May 25, 2015. Bertie was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia and attended regularly until ill health no longer allowed her participation. She lived all her life in Mexia (with the exception of a few years in Waxahachie, Temple, and Lancaster). She loved her home and returning to Mexia was a top priority during her rehab in Midlothian, where she’d been since a fall in mid-March. Although Bertie worked outside the home for many years, her great love was being a homemaker, cooking and taking care of her home and family. She was a very independent woman, having been a widow since 1991. She didn't care to travel, but what she really enjoyed was watching her Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers! Bertie was preceded in death by her husband, O.A. Archibald. She is survived by her son, Norman Archibald and wife, Lou of Waxahachie; her daughter, Terry Beasley and husband, Terry of Red Oak; grandchildren, Amy and Scott Harp, Andrea and Michael Burks, Luke and Lindsey Beasley; great-grandchildren, Hank and Ty Harp, Peyton and Kinsley Burks; a foster great-granddaughter; and brother, L.T. McFarlin of Lafayette, Louisiana. Visitation will be 10:00-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 in the Mexia Cemetery with Dr. Dan Griffin, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Lancaster, officiating. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 519 S. McKinney, Mexia, Texas 76667.
