Betty A. Day Porter passed away May 12, 2011 in Waco, Texas at the age of 80. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Mexia Cemetery with Chaplain Karen Hulsey officiating. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. on Saturday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Porter was born June 27, 1930 in Limestone County near Groesbeck, Texas to Robert J. and Mamie Pelton Ragan. She has been a life long resident of Limestone County. She retired from the Mexia State School where she taught life skills. Mrs. Porter was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to read her bible and listen to music. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Willie Ragan; husband, Bill Day; son-in-law, Charles Dana Yelverton; and brother, Curtis Ragan. Mrs. Porter is survived by her four children, Starlene Yelverton of Tehuacana, Bill Day, Jr. of Waco, Danette Masters and husband, Pete of Mexia; and Teresa Grabs and husband, Wayne of Cotton Gin; grandchildren, Tammy Platt and husband, Tommy, Sonny Yelverton, Keith Henderson, Randy Ratliff, Jody Day and wife, Angela, Justin Day and wife, Sheka, Mark Grabs and wife, Jennifer, Stephanie Southern and husband, Mark and Christie Bourgeois and husband, Joe; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Janie Cox and husband, John of Hilltop Lakes; sister-in-law, Rose Conner of San Angelo; and a number of nieces and nephews.
