Betty Prichard

After a long, graceful and courageous battle with several illnesses, Betty L. Prichard, 82, of Mexia passed on to be with her Lord on July 11, 2010 in Mexia. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Betty was born December 6, 1927 in Sand Branch, Texas to George Franklin and Iva (Thompson) Richardson. She was a retired employee of the Mexia State School. Betty always had a loving heart and warm smile for everyone. Her generous and giving nature always put the needs of others first. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and forever be an inspiration for all who knew her. Those she left behind will always be touched by her spirit, courage and strength. Betty loved flowers and took great pride in maintaining a pretty yard. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Earl Prichard; and sister, LaRue Ingram. Betty is survived by her son, John D. Prichard of Mexia; daughter, Paula R. Prichard of Mexia; granddaughters, Melanie Coleman of Waxahachie and Shelby Harlan of Cleburne; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Sam Jackson, Sonny Bowden, Clayton McDade, Darrell Spurlock, Jimmy Spurlock, Jimbo Ingram and Johnny Ingram.
