Cecil McFarlin Obituary

Cecil "Mac" Dorval McFarlin, 83, of Mexia passed away January 29, 2009 in Groesbeck. Funeral services for Mr. McFarlin will be 3:00 PM Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Rev. Marcus Sheffield will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Mr. McFarlin was born to Cecil Price and Lula Mae Yancy McFarlin on July 13, 1925 in Richland, Texas. He retired from Southwestern Bell in Austin as a supervisor. Afterwards, he became self-employed as a consultant, constructor and inspector for Shell Oil Company. Mr. McFarlin served a Three Star Asiatic Naval service for his country. His service was on four USS Battleships: Euryale, Greenlet, Fulton and Colorado. While serving he received a Victory Medal in WW II and a Gold Conduct Medal. At the time of his discharge, he was classified as an Electrician's Mate Third Class. He was baptized at the Church On The Rock in Longview, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. McFarlin is survived by his wife, Jeanette McFarlin of Mexia; daughter, Diane McFarlin Watson and husband, Darron, sons, Mark McFarlin and Paul McFarlin, daughter, Linda Wallace Fox and husband, Dr. Tom Fox, son, Steve Wallace and wife, Mimi, son, Russell Wallace and wife, Michele; grandchildren, Brandon Caraway and wife, Carla, Ryan Wallace and wife, Kristen, Faith Wallace, Peter Joel Wallace, Robert Allen Wallace, Justin Fox, Derek Luster, Toni Cox , and Brandi Cox; a number of great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brandon Caraway, Dr. Tom Fox, Justin Fox, Francisco Contreraz, Ben Jones, and Micheal Murphy.
