David Cooper Obituary

David George Cooper was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2015 after a brief illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Blair-Stubbs. The interment will be held in Evant, Texas. He was born June 20, 1941 in Stephenville, Texas to Laird Vernon Cooper, Sr. (Doc) and Bessie Bundrant Cooper. On June 3, 1961 he married Verenia Ann Munday in Evant, Texas. They had 53 years of marriage making memories together. David began his career working for Frito-Lay in 1968 while living in Fort Worth, Texas. He transferred with the company to Mexia in 1976. In 1983, while still working for Frito-Lay, he went to work for R.V.O.S. Insurance as an agent. He retired from Frito-Lay in 1998. He continued working for R.V.O.S. until his death. He loved his three girls, Vee, Tammy and Shelly; his granddaughter, Madison; grandsons, William, Ashton, Charlie and Zack; and his great-granddaughter, Rhiannon. He received great joy from telling jokes, making people laugh and playing dominoes with his friends from the lake. David was a life-long Baptist and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia at his passing. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Vee; his daughters, Tammy (Boone) Moss of Glen Rose; Shelly Van Winkle of Mart; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, John (Betty) Cooper of Hamilton; L. V. (Debbie) Cooper of Mexia; nephews, nieces, and a very special family friend, Greg Woodard of Waco. Pallbearers will be Zack VanWinkle, Madison VanWinkle, William Moss, Ashton Moss, Charlie Moss, Buddy Yates and Mark Munday. Honorary pallbearers, his domino buddies, are Harry Donaldson, Lowell Posey, Tommy Vaughn, Tom Petton and John Fraizer. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice.
