Elia Carolina Cerna, 92, passed away September 3, 2014 in Mexia, Texas. A service of remembrance will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Abraham Silos officiating. A service of entombment will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 05, 2014 in the Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas. Elia was born August 22, 1922 in Monterey, Mexico to Ephraim and Otlia Lozano Garcia. Her family moved from England to Mexico in 1854 and one of her ancestors was responsible for starting the first Baptist church in Mexico. Elia married Robert Cerna in 1943 in Monterey, Mexico. From this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Belinda; whom they adored. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Elia was strong in her faith and loved serving her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers. Elia is survived by her husband of 70 plus years, Robert Cerna of Mexia; daughter, Belinda Cerna of Mexia; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
