Emmie Jean Wardell, 66, of Dawson, passed away July 22, 2014 in Mexia leaving behind her husband, Bert F. Wardell, Jr, many cousins and friends. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Rice Cemetery in Rice, Texas. A Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church, 508 E. Commerce, Mexia, Texas. Visitation with the family will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Emmie was born in Corsicana, Texas on January 16, 1948 to Albert Melton Emmert, Jr. and Lee Ila Burks Emmert. After graduating from Corsicana High School, she received her LVN degree from Navarro College. She was for the Mexia Hospital for many years. Emmie married Bert F. Wardell, Jr. on November 16, 1974. She was a longtime member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Mexia. Emmie’s legacy for being very loving, caring and dedicated will be remembered by her family, friends and the many people she served. She was preceded in death by her parents, fondly referred to as aunt Bill and uncle Melton and brother, Charles Emmert Emmie is survived by her husband, Bert F. Wardell, Jr. of Dawson; a number of cousins, other relatives and friends. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Christ Episcopal Church Choir. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union High Volunteer Fire Department, % Leonard Mixon, 10000 FM 638, Dawson, TX 76639.
