Floy Mae Dossey Little, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 11, 2012. She was 91 years old. Floy was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, A.N. (Boob) Little; parents, William A. and Ara Dossey; sisters, Lorene Hand and Billie Jean King; brothers, Elmer and Ray Dossey; and granddaughter, Mika Turner. She is survived by her sister, Jonell Thompson of Burleson, Texas; two sons, Lanny Little and wife, Pam of Mexia and Mike Little of Galveston, TX; daughter, Dianne Dennis and husband, Ken of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Kim and husband, Rick Schell of Weatherford, TX, Jason Little of Abilene, TX, Kendall Owen of Purcell, OK, Tera and husband, Drake Thompson of New Braunfels, TX, Heather and husband, Brady Wilson of Canyon, TX, Ryan Reed of Willis, TX, and Emily and husband, Mike Willis of Uvalde, TX; and 17 great-grandchildren. Floy was born July 2, 1921, on a farm below the small community of Farrar, Texas. Her dad worked in the coal mine at Evansville. She started school in a two room school house at Wilson Chapel and graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1939. Floy was a talented artist, beginning her artistic career by drawing pictures for her 1939 high school yearbook, and received numerous awards for her paintings in various art shows throughout her life. She met Boob on a blind date, and never expected to see him again, but he kept coming back every Saturday. They were married on October 4, 1941, with only $5.00 between the two of them. They were farmers first, but later started several Mexia businesses. During the late fifties they opened Little Television and Sewing Center in downtown Mexia, that later expanded to Little Fabric Shop and Sewing Center in the sixties. They jointly built Tejas Plaza in the mid 1960’s and sold the fabric business in 1973. Floy was a very talented seamstress, and she enjoyed running the fabric shop. During her retirement she worked alongside Boob in starting the Jolly 60s program in Mexia that saw attendance up to 100, then moved to Groesbeck and started the program there with attendance up to 225. These groups enjoyed monthly performances, as well as trips to Branson, Eureka Springs, and San Antonio. She continued to enjoy spending time painting as well as crafting, crocheting, and researching her genealogy. Floy was a woman of strong faith and character. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Northcrest Church of Christ. She adored her family and cherished her time with them. She had a sweet spirit, always smiling, and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She lived her life filled with God’s purpose. Funeral services will be 10AM, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Northcrest Church of Christ with Mr. Richard Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mexia LTC Nursing Home, where she lived her final years, and Mexia Providence Hospice for their loving care given to their mother and grandmother during her final days. Pallbearers will be Jason Little, Jake Lowry, Rick Schell, Drake Thompson, Mike Willis and Brady Wilson.
