Gladys Jones

Mrs. Gladys M. Jones, 83, passed away on July 21, 2006 at her residence in Mexia, TX. She was born in Lott, TX and then moved to Bellmead to raise her family with her husband Ward C. Jones who preceded her in death on March 14, 1977. She had two children, Dalton L. Jones (deceased July 9, 2002) and Paulette J. Redding married to Lloyd W. Redding, residing in Mexia, TX. Gladys is also survived by her grandchildren: Stephanie Redding, MD and Dawn McKeand of Mexia, TX and Kelly Jones Capps, Christopher Jones, Austin Jones, Robin Scott, and Hall Brady of Austin, TX. She has 9 great-grandchildren: James and Katelyn McKeand, Katie and Lane Capps, Hays and Harper Jones, and Paige, Allison and Jack Scott. As a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, Gladys loved the Lord and her family beyond measure. Gladys was a hard worker who met life's struggles with strength and determination. In her younger years, she completed cosmetology school and owned a beauty salon. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, and playing 42 and canasta. She was a wonderful grandmother and caregiver to all the children that knew her. Gladys did for others her entire life and was a stronghold for her family. Her family includes all of her friends, who will miss her dearly. Gladys was a long time member of Bellmead Chapter of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning, July 26 at 1000 am at Oakcrest Funeral Home in Waco, TX, followed by graveside service at Waco Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25 from 5-8 pm at Oakcrest Funeral Home. Services to be conducted by Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, Mexia, TX. Should friends choose memorials may be made to Providence Hospice and Relay for Life.
