Gloria Barfield

Gloria Joy Barfield, 69, of Kosse, passed away April 21, 2015 in Groesbeck, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 in the Thornton Cemetery. Joy was born March 28, 1946 in Madisonville, Texas to James Daniel and Flossie Mae Carroll Barfield. She grew up and attended schools in Dallas and Houston. She worked as a cook and waitress for numerous restaurants in Houston and, the last seven years, at the Kosse Café. Joy was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, the “loves” of her life. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, reading the Bible and listening to Christian music. Joy was a member of the Baptist Church in Kosse. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bradley Dale Reed; and brother, George Daniel Barfield. Joy is survived by three sons, Johnny Stokes and wife, Beverly of Burleson, Gary Stokes and wife, Randia of Burleson and Michael Dale Walsh, Jr. and wife, Brittney of Kosse; grandchildren, Stacey, Stephaney, Sarah, Samantha, Haley, Amber, Natasha, Spencer, Aubrey, Brandon, and Elizabeth; great-granddaughter, Eliza; sisters, Shirley Robison and husband, James of Thornton and Geneva Crosser of Dayton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
