Hollis Owen “Skip” McKissack, formerly of Sherman, passed away February 22, 2017 in Mexia, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Skip was born March 31, 1946 in Bonham, Texas to Jess McKissack and Glenda Hollis Burleson. He attended North Texas University where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was Manager of King Architectural Metal Company, for a number of years, prior to retirement. Skip married Sandra Waldrop on January 5, 1996 in Sherman, Texas. His family was his pride and joy, especially, his grandchildren. Skip enjoyed fishing, loved Lake Texoma and most anything that pertained to being outdoors. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Coolidge, Texas. Skip was friendly, outgoing and enjoyed living life to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his father, Jess McKissack. Skip is survived by his loving wife, Sandra McKissack of Lake Mexia; mother, Glenda Burleson; daughter, Holley Bowman and husband, Adrian of Plano; son, Andy Russell and wife, Micah of Stephenville; grandchildren, Adam and Spencer Hendrik, Carter and Parker Bowman, Autry Russell and additional grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jane Black and Jackie Mathis of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.. There will be no formal service. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 306, Coolidge, Texas 76635.
