Homer Allen Copley, 91, of Coolidge, passed away January 16, 2016 in Waco. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Coolidge with Rev. Fred Sain officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Homer was born August 12, 1924 in Dawson, Texas to Claude Allen and Rosana Bryant Copley. He lived in the Coolidge area most of his life. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher. Homer believed in hard work, honesty and serving the Lord. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose goal in life was to love, protect and provide for his family. Homer enjoyed raising cattle, going to the sale barn, playing 42, trotline fishing, hunting and he was known to be a good story teller. However, there was nothing he enjoyed more than family gatherings and the opportunity to have a home cooked meal consisting of fried chicken (his favorite). Homer was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coolidge. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine Copley; son, Allen Copley, Jr.; grandchild, Gregory Smith; son-in-law, Paul W. Matthews; two brothers; and six sisters. Homer is survived by his children, Jimmie Sue Holland and husband, John of College Station, Paula Smith and husband, Danny of Mexia and James Copley and wife, Denna of Mexia; daughter-in-law, Paula Gayle Williams and husband, Malcolm of Tyler; grandchildren, Melanie Bass and husband, Richard, Jennifer Swigert and husband, Scott, Emily Parkerson and husband, Chris, step-grandson, Scott Holland, J. Scott Smith and wife, Whitney, Brian Smith and wife, Jessi, Chad Copley and fiancé, Shelby, Cody Copley and wife, Kelley, Tiffany Harrison and husband, Arik, Nicki Ancheta and husband, Jason; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Marie Hayes of Mexia; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, J. Scott Smith, Brian Smith, Chad Copley, Cody Copley, Richard Bass, Chris Parkerson, Scott Swigert, Jason Ancheta and Arik Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Robinson, Clyde Woodard, Scott Spencer and Stephen Spencer.
