Hugh Alton “Mojo” Gilliam , 80, of Mexia passed away June 9, 2014 in Waco. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Old Bethel Cemetery with Mr. Neil Bond officiating. Visitation with the family will be 9-10 a.m., Thursday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mojo was born July 7, 1933 in Mexia, Texas to Arvin James and Mary Ella Lancaster Gilliam. He was a lifelong resident of Mexia and a 1952 graduate of Mexia High School. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps. Mojo retired from General Tire after 30 plus years of service. He married the love of his life, Fayrene Prichard, on August 19, 1960 in Mexia, Texas; they were blessed with two daughters, Carla and Shannon. Mojo was proud of family and loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially his grandsons. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially taking care of his yard. In his leisure time, he loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 50 years, Fayrene. Mojo is survived by his daughters, Carla Hervey and husband, Tom of Waco and Shannon Easterling and husband, Phil of Mexia; four grandsons, Cole Masters, Max Johnson, Ryan Easterling and Tyler Easterling; brothers, Randall Gilliam and wife, Sue of Austin and Bobby Joe Gilliam and wife, Roma of Robinson; sister-in-law, Wanda Thornton of Mexia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
