Jack Yeldell

Jack Yeldell, 89, passed away on July 30, 2017 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Spivey and Rev. Greg Barmer officiating. Interment will be in the Mexia Cemetery. Russell Black, Jayce Black, Evan Yeldell, Kent Lawson, Todd Amick and Ronnie Joe Davis will serve as pallbearers. Bo Wilkins, Ken Waldrop, Gary McKinney, George Riddle, Danny Smith and Paul Luna will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Jack was born September 1, 1927 in Freestone County, Texas to George A'Clark and Lucy A. Calame Yeldell. He worked for Diamond Alkali, forerunner of Diamond Shamrock for 16 years, prior to retiring from the US Postal Service after 22 years as a mail carrier. Jack was also a Rancher, something he really enjoyed. He was no stranger to work and believed in doing any job to the best of his ability; good work ethic was important to him. Jack’s life revolved around his love for the Lord and family. He was a strong Christian, loved to witness to others and spent many years teaching Sunday School. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia. Jack never met a stranger, he was never at a loss of words when it came to talking with people. Visiting with people was probably one of his favorite hobbies. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Jacqueline Lynn Yeldell in March of 1965. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Hilda Yeldell of Mexia; children, Stephen Yeldell and wife, Melissa of Caldwell, Paul Yeldell of Mexia, Lisa Barmer and husband, Greg of Washington, NC and Leslie Black and husband, Russell of Wortham; 12 grandchildren, Sarah Jenkins and husband, Lance, Andrew Barmer, Jaclyn, Jayce, Jessica and Jon Ross Black, Evan Yeldell, Lauren and Emily Yeldell and Paige, Hannah and Sophie Yeldell; and sister, Elizabeth Gruver of Auburn, AL.
