Funeral services for Joe Lynn Allen, 55, of Mexia will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in First Baptist Church of Mexia. Rev. Marcus Sheffield will officiate with interment to follow in Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. Mr. Allen was born December 15, 1950 in Mexia to Joe D. and Mary Frances Morrow Allen and passed away on March 5, 2006. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1969 and then attended University of Texas for three years. He had been in the construction business for 30 years and was a co-owner of Allen & Shivers Excavation.. He was of the Christian faith. He was married to Debra Sue East on February 28, 1976. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Allen. He is survived by his wife, Debra Sue Allen of Mexia; a son, Christopher Lynn Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada, two daughters.Rebecca Darlene Allen of Austin and Stacie Guandique and husband, Israel of Temple; his parents, Joe D. and Mary Frances Allen of Mexia; brother; Jerry Ray Allen, sister in law, Donna, nieces, Lacy Allen and Brandi Jones of Mexia. The light of his life were his two grandchildren, McKenzie and Jayden Guandique of Temple. Pallbearers will be Bobby McDonald, Jack Garrett, Alden Garber, Rick Sadler, Leslie Perrin and John Posey. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Don Shivers, Bobby Carpenter, Dana Busby, Kenny Kitchens, Randy Kitchens, John Sadler, Wade Johnson, Josh Herring, Clinton Thomas, Ben Houston, Mike Ellis and Paul Miller.
