John Dickens Obituary

Mr. John Richard Dickens, 64, of Teague passed away March 3, 2009 in Mexia. Graveside services for Mr. Dickens will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Rev. James Dorman will officiate. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mr. Dickens was born to Joe Earnest and Iris Merle (Teague) Dickens on July 12, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas. He had been a resident of the Freestone County area for many years. Mr. Dickens served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a longtime member of Landmark Baptist Church in Mexia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Dickens is survived by his wife, Brenda of Teague; daughter, Shannon Foley of Jewett; granddaughter, Ashley Dickens; sister, Sue Schoening of Kerrville; brother, Tom Dickens; a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Daniel Schoening, Jeremy Schoening, Ed Schoening, Jack Osborne, Donald Stone and Roy Foley.
