Kenneth Ray Gardner, 76, of Coolidge passed away July 3, 2009. Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, July 6, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Coolidge. Rev. Fred Sain and Mr. Allen Johnston will officiate with interment to follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Kenneth was born March 30, 1933 in Delia, Texas to R. B. and Sally Helen Hudson Gardner. He was a rancher and had worked as a welder for Brown & Root. Kenneth served his country in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Thomas Gardner; granddaughter, Kendra Nicole Webb; brothers, R. B. Gardner, Jr. and Jerry Paul Gardner; sister, Barbara Jane Kirby. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tommye Joyce Driver Gardner of Coolidge; daughters, Thressa Lynn Webb of Austin and Lydia Rebecca Singleton of Waco; grandchildren, Thomas and Courtney Singleton, Matthew and Marcia Singleton, Sadie Singleton and Kirkland Webb; great-grandchildren, RyeLynn Singleton, Kenneth Ray Singleton and Jaxson Singleton; sisters, Jo Koester of Mart and Betty Bass of Ft. Worth; brothers, Alton Gardner of Oklahoma City and Buddy Gardner of Everman; aunt, Kate Spruiell of Marshall; and number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Ric Bennett, Ben Gorden, Bruce Freeman, Jimmy Reid, Wilmer Ward, Ralph Calhoun, Ray Forrester, Mark Hancock and Ray Black. Honorary pallbearers will be his Coffee Drinking Buddies at The Store. Memorials may be made to Coolidge Cemetery Association or the First Baptist Church in Coolidge.
