Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Sikes Twidwell, 89 of Mexia will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2007 in Blair - Stubbs Chapel with Neil Bond and Robin Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Twidwell was born July 14, 1918 to William Leroy Sikes and his wife, Vida Sikes Boyd and passed away on October 18, 2007 in Mexia. Lorene was one of five children, went to school in Cotton Gin and lived in this community until she moved To Austin and met and married Wallace Twidwell. She was a member of the Northcrest Church of Christ in Mexia. She is survived by her daughter, Faye Dean Payton and husband, Jerry of Euless; Grandchildren and spouses, Marty Payton, Robert and Shelley Payton and Janice and Daniel Sanchez; great grandchildren: Charles and Mallory Payton, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Twidwell and her brothers, Odell, Dean and Sanford Sikes and Alton Boyd and sister, Josephine Boyd Deutscher. Pallbearers will be Chris Sikes, David Griffin, Marvin Brown, Johnny McAdams, Justin Griffin and Kevin Griffin. Memorials may be made to Northcrest Church of Christ, P. O. Box 283, Mexia, Texas 76667.
