Louie Masters

Louie Leldon Masters passed away August 7, 2017 at his home in Mexia at the age of 83. Graveside services will be 11AM, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the Mexia Cemetery with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 – 10:30AM, Wednesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Louie was born November 14, 1933 in Mexia, Texas to Algie Edell and Velma Cox Masters. He retired from Dick Scott Ford, after 35 years of service. Then he worked for 10 more years at Blackmon’s Used Cars before officially retiring. Louie married his loving wife of 61 years, Ruby Lively, on June 16, 1956. Their family consisted of four boys, who he enjoyed spending endless hours with on the baseball field and golf course. Louie was active in whatever they were involved in, a Dad they could count on for support; he was their best friend. He had the opportunity to begin this journey over as he became the proud grandfather of a grandson, Cole, the light of his life. Louie enjoyed playing cards and golf; he was an avid golfer. In his younger years, he played on a softball team that went to the World Series in 1954. Louie made friends easily and was a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edell and Velma Masters. Louie is survived by his wife, Ruby Masters of Mexia; four sons, Donnie of Santa Fe, NM, Ronnie Masters, Jonnie Masters and Lonnie “Pete” Masters all of Mexia; grandson, Matthew Cole Masters of Houston; and sister, Joyce Kennedy.
