Mamie Monk

Mamie Estelle Monk, 86, of Mexia passed away April 9, 2009 in Mexia. Funeral services for Miss Monk will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Rev. Michael Redmond and Dale McDaniel will officiate with interment to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 PM Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mamie was born to W. W. and Ruby Watson Monk on May 14, 1922 in Freestone, Texas. She had lived in Mexia for the past 10 years. Mamie loved people and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a very devoted and loving sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, J. W. Monk and a sister, Ruby M. Monk. Mamie is survived by her brother, Claude Monk and wife, Mildred of Tehuacana; three nephews; 1 niece; a number of great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bill Monk, Joe Santana, Stanley Cotton, Jerry Don Chilcoat, David Bates and Dale McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be John Monk, Dick Monk, Monroe Gann, Larry Redding and Ed Schwille. The family would like to express their sincere and special thanks to the Mexia Nursing Home and staff, also, Providence Hospice of Mexia for the wonderful care given to Mamie.
