Margie Bullard

Margie Bullard passed to her Lord at 3:16 am on March 31, 2012 at her home in Palestine, Texas at the age of 79 years. Margie was born in Tehuacana, Texas on October 11, 1932 to proud parents Jesse and Gladys (East) Bronaugh and brother Richard E. Bronaugh. She grew up as a baby of the extended Bronaugh Family and was often called "Sister" or "Aunt Sissy" by family and locals. Margie attended Tehuacana Elementary School, graduated from Mexia High School and entered college at Westminster in Tehuacana. She had many wonderful stories of her years in Tehuacana, and one special highlight was being selected as the Mexia Festival Queen. She later transferred to Sam Houston State College in Huntsville to receive a degree in education. It was there that she met and married Richard K. Bullard. Margie and Richard moved to Houston, Texas where they had two sons, Steve and Richard "Dick" Bullard. They primarily resided in Spring, Texas where Margie taught Elementary School. Being a great mother and exemplary parent was always the priority of her life. Upon retirement, Margie and Richard moved to Palestine, Texas to the East Texas country life. Margie loved to travel and appreciated all that nature provided. She was an avid birdwatcher, a rockhound, and loved the beauty of the wildflowers and greenery of the forest. Margie also loved to dance with her friends and sing at every opportunity in church and community choirs she could find. Margie enjoyed being a part of multiple church families and was at home in them all, often participating in ladies prayer and quilting groups. As Margie reached the end of her life, she often summed things up simply with, "I have had a blessed life. Though we did not have much from birth, I was born into a happy family that loved me and treated me as I was something special. When I grew up, my husband and I were blessed with all you can see and two sons who loved us." Margie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Bronaugh; husband Richard K. Bullard; and nephew, Ricky Bronaugh. Survivors include her sons, Steve Bullard and wife Cindy of Tehuacana and Richard Bullard and wife Christy of Palestine. Margie is also survived by grandchildren, Jesse Bullard and wife Vicki of Palestine, Wendy (Bullard) Niemczak and husband Kevin of Beaumont, Jessica Bullard of Dallas and Richard D. Bullard soon to be of Connecticut. She is also survived by great granddaughters, Haley and Jenna Niemczak of Beaumont, sister-in-law, Mary Dean and brother-in-law Don Dean, nephews, Robert S. Bronaugh and Kevin Dean, nieces, Layne and Lynette Bronaugh of Tehuacana and a host of wonderful friends. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Tehuacana Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Tehuacana Cemetery.
